bullet Christmas Floral decoration
bullet PVA glue
bullet Church Candle or Night Light (tea light)

bullet Method – for church candle

bullet Measure the distance around the candle.
bullet Cut a piece of Punchinella slightly larger than this distance.
bullet Wrap the sheet of paper around the candle then wrap the Punchinella around the paper wrapped candle.
bullet Place a little glue on one end of the Punchinella, and hold the other end down over it. Allow the glue to set.
bullet Remove the Punchinella and paper from the candle.

Ceramic Tile Place Mat

bullet

Requirements

bullet

White Ceramic Tiles

bullet

Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paint

bullet

Sponge or Kitchen Roll

bullet

Paint Brushes

bullet

Masking Tape or Double Sided Tape

bullet

White Spirit (available from all good DIY Stores)

bullet

Christmas Templates

bullet

Method

bullet

First give the Ceramic Tile a thorough clean with White Spirit or other alcohol based cleaner. Wipe dry with Kitchen Roll

bullet

Place the tile on a felt square, and mark around the edges. Cut a felt square to the size of the tile and set aside.

bullet

Chose a suitable template, or templates for your design, i.e. one large or several small templates. Stars, Christmas Tree etc work best.

bullet

Roll a small piece of masking tape and apply to centre of template. Or use double sided tape.

bullet

Stick the template to the tile.

bullet

Pour a small quantity of Porcelaine 150 paint onto a lid.

bullet

Dip a small piece of sponge or Kitchen roll into the paint. A small quantity works best.

bullet

Gently dab the sponge onto the tile. ensuring that you do not get paint beneath the templates.

bullet

Leave to dry, then remove Templates.

bullet

Remove any stick mark left by the template with a little white spirit.

bullet

Gently sponge or paint (with a brush) the design area of the tile in a contrasting colour, and allow to air dry for 24 hours before baking. If colours have been applied thickly extend this time.

bullet

Place your creation in a cold Domestic Oven and set the temperature at 150 Deg C.

bullet

Bake for 35 minutes from the time that the oven temperature stabilizes at the desired level.

bullet

Turn the oven off and allow your creations to cool naturally in the oven overnight. Do not open the oven during this time.

bullet

Remove the cool tile and apply PVA adhesive to the back of the tile, spreading it all over the back.

bullet

Gently apply and firm down the felt square to the back of the tile. When dry remove any excess felt with a craft knife.

You now have a Tile with an exceptionally hard  Porcelain Film finish, just like enamel

Church Candle

bullet

Accent Beads

bullet

Christmas Stencil

bullet

Glue

bullet

Double sided tape

Church canlde decorated in accent beads and surrounded by a Millennium Tartan Candle Ring

bullet

Method

bullet

Select a small stencil shape, such as a Star, Christmas Tree etc. Copy this shape onto a piece of soft card or paper.

bullet

Cut out the shape and discard the inner section. Apply a light wipe of Pritt Stick around the edges of the design on the reverse side of the stencil. You may prefer to use Double Sided Tape for this.

bullet

Gently apply the stencil to the candle and firm down the edges. apply a light coat of glue to the candle through the stencil.

bullet

Allow the glue to become tacky before sprinkling the Accent beads over the glue.

bullet

Gently push the beads into the glue using a finger.

bullet

When dry shake off the lose beads onto a saucer and gently remove the stencil.

bullet

The above method can be used again to enable several designs to be created.

bullet

To finish off apply a narrow band of double sided tape around the base of the candle.

bullet

Remove the backing tape and gently sprinkle accent beads to the tape. Gently rub the beads to ensure a good stick.

bullet

Shake off any remaining beads onto a saucer.

bullet

Tips

bullet

You can start off using single colours, collecting all the shaken off beads on one saucer, creating a separate multi coloured selection of beads.

bullet

An interesting design can be created using double sided tape wrapped round the candle to make a spiral. Try adding an extra dimension to your Candle by using Paper Shape Flowers or Christmas Confetti by simply sticking them to the candle.

bullet

Try cutting out names etc to create a special candle for family members who will be absent on Christmas Day.
